About Portsmouth Costumiers

Based on the south coast of England, Portsmouth Costumiers is primarily a formalwear and vintage style design and supply service with specialism in costume design and production service for bespoke stage costumes. We create for individuals, theatre, musicians and television.

The 'outfit' comprises of three highly experienced founding members: Naomi Gibbs, Linda Canning and Sandra Reinolde. Each had been operating individually in the same field for many years before forming a collaborative collective in 2019. Often, we welcome various regular tried-and-tested freelance makers join us during busy periods.

The collective is located in the beautiful historic setting of the New Theatre Royal Portsmouth, where Naomi is resident costume designer and associate artist. We share a workroom, so each piece is created between us, each bringing their best skills to the table. All our pieces are manufactured individually by us in the UK. Clients who are able to visit us in person can enjoy a welcome at the New Theatre Royal, in our Dress Circle Saloon space.

We focus on high quality, ethical production of beautiful pieces that can be worn for many years to come. Our designs are rich in detail, with fine finishing and practical additions such as pockets in our eveningwear and metal zips for longevity.

There would not be much to show without the great work of our collaborators, photographers and make up artists alike. Check out their work!
